Those are the conversations we seek out. We spend time listening before we recommend. Because remarkable travel is not built from brochures. It is built from understanding.

The Editorial Journal documents the ideas, conversations and first-hand experiences that shape our judgement. Some entries are reflective Field Notes. Growing up in South Africa taught me that places are understood through people.
Long before I worked in travel, I learnt that landscapes only become meaningful when someone shares their story with you. A mountain becomes more than a view. A lodge becomes more than a place to stay. A city becomes more than a collection of attractions.
Over the years I've realised that the most valuable things I've learnt have rarely appeared in brochures. They've emerged over long dinners with founders, early-morning walks through properties before guests arrived, and conversations with guides, architects, chefs, artisans and conservationists. Those moments have shaped my judgement far more than any specification sheet ever could.
This journal exists to preserve those observations while they're still fresh. Not to tell you where to travel, but to help you understand why one place feels different from another.
